Working While You Travel?
For young people just getting out of University or College, it is often a dream to travel before settling down in a career. For many, this dream becomes a reality by working while traveling.
Here are ten great jobs that are relatively easy to get and are flexible enough to allow you to indulge in your passion of travel!
- Fruit Picking – In hot countries like Australia or Mexico, seasonal fruit picking jobs abound.
- Teaching English – There are many organizations that hire people to teach English in countries around the world.
- Freelance Work in your profession (writing, graphic design, web design etc). – Bring your laptop with you and start freelancing in an area where you have experience.
- Restaurant Work – Restaurants always need kitchen and wait staff. You may have to wash dishes, but it will get you the bucks you need to get to the next country!
- Child Care (nanny, Au Pair etc). – It helps to have experience or to work with an agency, but there are plenty of childcare positions working for wealthy families overseas.
- Working at attractions – Many attractions and exhibits like to have foreign workers to add interest.
- Bike Courier – Mostly available in larger cities, but being a bike courier is an excellent way to learn the city, meet some new people and stay in shape.
- Cleaning – Hotels often need cleaning staff and these jobs are usually not difficult to find.
- Tree planting – Countries like Canada have large tree planting opportunities for travelers looking to earn money. Do your research before embarking on your trip.
- Arrange an internship – Try to find an Internship in your chosen field in a foreign country. This is an excellent way to get paid and to live somewhere else for a while.

By getting a job overseas, you can indulge your sense of wanderlust. Plan ahead and you can find a job that allows you to travel for months, even years!
