Travel Changes Coming This January 2007
Many travelers may be caught by surprise this January if they try to travel without a passport. Starting January 23, 2007, all travelers will be required to present a passport to enter or reenter the United States, including U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. by air from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda.
On December 13, the Air Transport Authority (ATA) recommended that travelers without a passport take immediate action to begin the application or renewal processes, which can take as much as eight weeks. For information about passports and applications, U.S. citizens can use these links:
This upcoming holiday travel season is the last time that passengers will be able to fly throughout the Western Hemisphere and return to the United States without a passport so all travelers are strongly recommended to act now to ensure no issues with future travel plans.
Happy New Year everyone!
