Tahiti in Three Days
Last year, I had the great fortune of visiting Australia for an extended holiday. On my way home, I wanted to make a stop in the South Pacific, even a short one, just to have an opportunity to experience one of its many beautiful islands.
I had exactly three days and decided to visit Tahiti with that time. Many people thought I was crazy for only staying for a few days, but I made the most of my time and was able to see quite a few exhilarating and gorgeous sights! Here are my suggestions for Tahiti in three days!
- Day One: I spent my first day exploring colorful Pape’ete. As you may know, Tahiti is famous for its pearls, so I made sure to schedule in some time to shop for the famous gem. The Marche de Pape’ete is the place to find the best deals.
Since we didn’t have a lot of time, we decided to eat very well and we had dinner at the very chic French restaurant L’O a la Bouche and it was well worth every penny. It truly is the place to go for people watching and gourmet cuisine.
After dinner, we headed out for a night of dancing. There are tons of happening bars and clubs; you just need to make your pick!
- Day Two: Heading out of town is a great way to spend day two. We headed out south to Tahiti Iti (Little Tahiti), which is traditional Polynesian villages, beaches, archaeological sites and caves. It’s a big hangout for surfers, but for land lovers there is a lot to explore and do. The lack of commercialism is a huge plus in this area. We actually spent the night in Tahiti Iti, but it is close enough should you decide to only do a day trip from Pape’ete.
- Day Three: The guidebooks I had researched before my trip suggested to spend a day on the big island Tahiti Nui. It’s an ideal way to experience the lush vegetation of Tahiti, while getting out of the more commercialized Pape’ete. A great place for people who enjoy activities, we spent our time doing a quad biking adventure and waterfall abseiling! We spent the night at one of the luxurious resorts outside of Pape’ete.
I was actually amazed at how much we did during our three-day trip. It’s easy to get around so exploring different parts of Tahiti is relatively simple. If you find yourself en route to the South Pacific, be sure to visit the amazing paradise that is Tahiti!
